About

The Silicon Forest Partnership brings together critical partners from industry, academia, entrepreneurs, community-based organizations, and local, state and federal governments to advance innovation through a sector-focused approach.

Industry members and entrepreneurs receive support to:

  • Develop products

  • Access capital

  • Build a talent base

  • Promote inclusivity

  • Deliver services statewide in sectors where Oregon has a competitive advantage

The Partnership incentivizes collaboration.

We foster ideation by catalyzing the commercialization and deployment of new products, services and processes within Oregon’s existing semiconductor ecosystem.

The Oregon Advantage

For 50 years, Oregon has been the center of U.S. semiconductor technology manufacturing leadership — providing cutting-edge research and development (R&D) capabilities and fostering collaboration within the semiconductor ecosystem.

Anchored by Intel, Oregon is one of the largest and most mature semiconductor centers in the United States. With semiconductor companies investing in advanced research centers over decades of strategic implementation, Oregon has a strong foundation in the commercialization of leading edge, cooperative research and design.

Oregon’s existing semiconductor cluster is one of three places in the world — and the only one in the United States — producing leading-edge research and development for semiconductor manufacturing.

  • “Oregon has been a trailblazer in the semiconductor industry. From our strong partnerships with universities and industry leaders to our culture of innovation – Oregon is the very best home for a NATCAST-affiliated technical center. We are heeding the call from the Biden-Harris administration to make economic and national security a priority. Oregon is uniquely positioned to deliver for our state and the entire nation. We stand ready to continue our legacy and grow our Silicon Forest.”

    – Oregon Governor Tina Kotek

  • “Oregon’s Silicon Forest is a world-class hub for our nation’s semiconductor industry. Continued CHIPS Act investments will create thousands of high-tech, high-paying jobs that advance American competitiveness and maintain Oregon’s position as the beating heart of the American semiconductor industry.”

    – U.S. Senator Ron Wyden

  • “Making chips right here in America is critical to our nation’s future — and there is no better combination than Intel’s proven leadership in semiconductor manufacturing and Oregon’s homegrown talent to set us up for success. Federal investments in Intel, and other critical Silicon Forest partners, cements Oregon’s role as a national leader in semiconductor manufacturing for a generation to come.”

    – U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley

  • “Investments in Oregon’s Silicon Forest will help our region remain one of the world’s most important semiconductor and technology ecosystems. We’ve seen how past CHIPS Act investments into Intel, for example, have expanded Oregon’s world-class research and development facilities, keeping Hillsboro’s Gordon Moore Park at the forefront of innovation and created thousands of sustainable, family-wage jobs.”

    – U.S. Representative Suzanne Bonamici

  • “Already, Oregon has the Corvallis Microfluidics Tech Hub – one of only four such federally-designated hubs focusing on semiconductors – which is working on the rapid commercialization of chip-cooling technology critical for the growing global artificial intelligence boom. The collaboration in this effort by public and private partners, including Gov. Tina Kotek, our congressional delegation, Oregon’s public universities, Intel, HP, Nvidia and others, can land major economic victories for our state and cement Oregon’s status as the heart of U.S. semiconductor research and development.”

    – Oregon State Senator Janeen Sollman

  • “Hillsboro has been the heart of Intel’s research and development for decades. With the CHIPS Act funding we also know that its most advanced technology will continue to be developed right here in Hillsboro. The reason they have fabs and production facilities in Arizona and Ohio is largely because of what we’re doing here in Oregon.”

    – City of Hillsboro Mayor Steve Callaway
